Day 309

And that's it. We did it. Goth Girl and I are now Mr & Mrs.

Thank you to everyone who did so much to make the day special for us. Thank you also to everyone who bought gifts for us and for the Hawk Conservancy.

And thank you to everyone who has read this. This will be the last entry.

Days 299 - 308

Eeek! Less than 31 hours to go.

This week we have circumnavigated the potential problems of (a) the photographer breaking his wrist snowboarding and (b) some mendacious halfwits at BA going on strike.

Today we get to run around, decorating the reception venue and making table decorations. Then we have a rehearsal of the ceremony itself and a dinner tonight. Oh, and friends and relations seem to be appearing from everywhere. The clock is ticking...

Day 298

I gather than we had some visitors today, from the land of www.rollonfriday.com. Shame none of you stopped to leave a message, but I can rule out there being a "9 Months and Counting", KITT.

Today's news is that we had our first 'off list' present arrive in the post today. As sure as night follows day everyone gets at least one of these when they marry, and we are very grateful that ours is so wonderful.

Days 293 - 297

It all seems to be coming together. We have sorted out the problems caused by the broken organ (never a good thing on a wedding day), booked the coaches, paid the DJ, ordered the wine and all the other things that had to be done this week.

Goth Girl's dress is apparently almost ready and she has finally found some shoes. I've even written a speech.

I doubt that this will be the last entry I post on here, but it is all getting excitingly close. In a way, though, I will miss this little blog when it is all over...

Day 292

Today the church organ broke down. To be more exact, it turned out to be more broken down than the people called in to do some maintenance on it thought it would be. With the result that we now cannot use the organ for our wedding.

Fortunately, they have a portable organ which they can use, but it cannot play two of the things we wanted i.e. the entry music and the music during the signing of the register.

Good job I didn't dash ahead with printing the orders of service, really.

Days 286 - 291

We just had the last meeting with our vicar. We spent almost 90 minutes going over the words of the marriage service and what they meant. It was most thought provoking and enlightening. The end result is that we are both looking forward to our wedding even more than ever.

I am surprised by just how much time I have for Val the Vicar. She is everything you could hope for from your local cleric - open, warm and loving, yet with a certain firmness and sense of purpose. Basically, not at all as I expected. The fact that she is so obviously keen for us to get married is a huge plus for us. Clearly something we said or did made her like us, but I can't imagine what it was!

Days 272 - 285

Wow! That was hectic.

In the last fortnight we have

- Spent our first Christmas together
- Been to another wedding [and pinched some more ideas]
- Spent our first New Year together
- Sorted out the wedding flowers
- Sorted out the church music
- Found me a suit to wear

Goth Girl has also fitted in a dress fitting and a stinking cold.

We both still need some shoes and the music company want us to give them some more 'must play' songs. We only have just over three weeks - eek!
